Embroidered Liberty and Linen Pincushions with Anna Victoria
Anna is a Melbourne-based textile and mixed media artist who works from her home studio creating whimsical, story-rich pieces of art many of which are designed to serve a function in daily life - designed to be touched, held and admired regularly. Her work blends fabric, embroidery, embellishment and illustration, with a focus on mindful hand-stitching and a deep love of the creative process.
Some of Anna's earliest and most beloved creations are her Liberty and Linen embroidered pincushions - most commonly featuring an embroidered Queen Bee in the centre, surrounded by a garden of tiny Liberty London hexagons. Over the years, Anna has expanded the design of her pincushions to include more intricate embroidered wreaths around tiny circles of Liberty London pictorial fabrics. The Liberty fabrics are fussy cut to highlight a particular story or character, and the embroidered wreathes continue that story through stitch.
Join Anna for a day to make these divine little pincushions from start to finish, using English paper piecing, applique and embroidery. They are lovely, achievable projects on which to learn some new skills and add a little functional beauty to your sewing kit.
The workshop includes a kit which contains everything you need to make a Queen Bee embroidered pincushion. If you would prefer to create one of Anna’s other pincushion designs (featuring an embroidered wreath around a tiny Liberty fabric vignette), she will also hand-draw a wreath for you to embroider on the day.
No prior sewing experience is necessary to enjoy this workshop, and it is the perfect way to dip your toes into the world of embroidery.
