Hand-embellished silk bracelets with Anna Victoria
Anna Bastiaan is a Melbourne-based textile artist who works from her home studio creating whimsical, story-rich pieces, many of which form wearable works of art. Her work blends fabric, embroidery, embellishment and illustration, with a focus on mindful hand-stitching and a deep love of the creative process.
In recent years, Anna has become well known for her hand-embellished silk bracelets, which she adorns with embroidery, sequins, glass beads and vintage treasures. She releases small collections of these enchanting pieces of wearable art to purchase only a handful of times a year, and she also teaches a limited number of workshops each year sharing her techniques for crafting them.
Every bracelet Anna creates is unique and features different motifs and embroidered illustrations, often with special symbolic meaning. For the purposes of teaching this workshop, she will prepare a number of different bracelet kit designs for you to work from which include everything you need to complete your own piece of wearable art.
You are also invited to modify these kits to make your bracelet truly your own if you prefer, and you will have the special privilege of being able to select from Anna’s collection treasures which she will bring for you to use. These have been sourced over time from all over the world, and some are quite old and rare, making them extra special to include in your project. The intention is for you to make something that is meaningful to you, and to enjoy complete creative freedom in a relaxed and supportive environment
This workshop is suitable for beginner sewers and includes all the materials you need to make the bracelet.
The kit designs will expand in 2027 and anyone attending for a second time will see a set of whole new offerings. Exciting.
