Join Miss Leela for a relaxed and inspiring five-hour workshop where you’ll create a beautiful hand-stitched Hexie Heart, framed in a timber embroidery hoop – perfect for gifting or adding a handmade touch to your home.
This workshop is a lovely introduction to English Paper Piecing (EPP) or a great project for those looking to deepen their hand-stitching skills. Over the course of the day, Miss Leela will guide you through each step as you design, piece, appliqué, and frame your heart.
You’ll learn how to:
• Cut fabric to shape with the correct seam allowance
• Baste paper shapes using thread or the Sewline glue pen
• Plan and layout your heart design
• Piece hexagons together with the whip stitch
• Use a locking knot for secure stitching
• Remove papers neatly
• Hand appliqué your finished heart onto backing fabric
• Add decorative top stitching
• Frame your finished work in a timber embroidery hoop
Everything you need is included in the workshop, with a full kit of fabric and threads provided, and all the tools you'll need available for use on the day. Come and enjoy the calming rhythm of slow stitching and leave with a heartfelt keepsake made by hand.
