In this class Nina Field will teach you how to create simple and beautiful shapes from a ball of clay which you will then turn into a string of hanging bells.
You’ll learn various ways to shape your pieces, thinking about balance and the overall design of your piece. You will learn how to trim and fine-tune the work and add texture to the surface. There will be the option to have a go at some effective hand painting techniques if you’d like to further personalise your work.
This class will provide you with the technique of hand pinching pots in clay, which is the basis of many hand building ceramics. Once you know how to do this, there are so many things you could create!
Everything will be supplied: white clay, tools, underglaze and objects for texture. If you have any pretty buttons or small pieces of textural interest, please bring them along to use in your work. Aprons are advised as clay can get messy.
Your pieces will be taken with Nina to her studio and fired and finished. They will then be lovingly packed and posted to you a few weeks after the class. All this is included in the ticket fee.
