Botanical Eco Dyeing (and slow stitching) with Rebecca Muscat 23 Feb - 4pm til 8pm

Discover the beauty of eco dyeing in this workshop.

Eco dyeing is a technique of extracting colour from nature to create beautifully subtle or dramatic hues. Colour can be extracted from trees and plants in our own backyard such as Eucalyptus leaves and Marigold flowers. Kitchen waste such as onion skins can offer us beautiful colours too.

Understand essential dye techniques with high quality fabrics including pure wool and 100% cotton. You will gain the fundamental skills to set up and create your own natural dye projects at home!

What to expect:

During this workshop, we will cover:

  • Scouring and mordanting our fibres

  • bundle dyeing

  • how different fibres (such as cellulose and protein fibres) react to natural dyes

  • how to care for our eco dyed items to keep their colour looking radiant

What’s included:

All tuition, equipment and materials are included to ensure you have everything you need to get the most out of this workshop. You will dye and take home:

  • Pair of Merino wool socks

  • Cotton tote bag

  • Eco printed fabric for slow stitching

Whilst our bundles are processing in the heat, we will relax and do some slow stitching on eco dyed cotton fabric.

You will also take home an eco dyeing resource booklet so that you can continue your eco dyeing projects at home.

Coffee and Cake and a light evening meal will also be provided
