Easter egg painting workshop with Kasia Jacquot 28th March

Paint beautiful eggs easily even if you're a complete novice. Kasia will show you the exact steps and tricks to make the process super easy.

Once a year Kasia Jacquot (embroidery artist the rest of the year) returns to one of her favourite crafts of Easter egg painting, as she loves to share this beautiful and meaningful Easter tradition. Kasia has been practising this traditional Eastern European craft for decades since watching her grandfather in Poland paint eggs with wax and then dye them with onion skins.

If you're looking for something creative, fun, relaxing and meaningful to do this Easter then you are warmly invited to join Kasia for this full day workshop.

YOU WILL LEARN HOW TO:

  1. Blow out an egg the RIGHT way which is easy and quick. There are two mistakes people almost always make which makes blowing out the egg difficult and frustrating. (Don’t worry you will be supplied with ready to go egg shells but Kasia will still demonstrate the technique).

  2. Create specific grids on your egg surface which makes the actual drawing of the design SUPER easy. Not just easy but SUPER EASY!

  3. Hold the egg and your pen so you actually get smooth line work.

  4. Create a myriad of different designs off a few simple grids. You'll keep painting one egg after another and no two will be the same.

  5. Amaze your friends and family not just with your skills but also with beautiful gifts and possibly a new tradition after you read about what we do with Easter eggs in our home.

STUDENTS WILL BE SUPPLIED WITH:

  • Six blown out and cleaned chicken egg shells.

  • One white Posca marker to take home and lots of colours to use during the workshop.

  • Printed instructions and patterns to continue painting at home.

  • A decorative gift box to display or gift your favourite egg.

STUDENTS NEED TO BRING:

  • One empty 12 egg carton

  • Towel (this will be your placemat so that when (not IF) you drop your egg on the table it won’t break!

  • OPTIONAL: you can bring your own Posca markers in colours of your choice if you’d like to buy them beforehand. They are available at all Officeworks stores and almost all newsagencies. You’ll need the PC-3M type Posca size 0.9-1.3mm. This is printed on the side of the pen.

Once you learn the techniques in this workshop you can create a meaningful and fun family/friends get together at home. Get everyone off their smart phones, gather around a table and have a ton of fun and do something different and meaningful this Easter. Adults can help the kids with painting (or the other way around!)

Looking forward to seeing you there!
