Cut - Paint - Stitch with Kasia Jacquot 2 Days 10/11th October

A multi skill two-day course!

If you love fabric, pattern and texture this comprehensive two-day course is your ticket to creating the textile heaven you’ve dreamt about.

I’m bringing together three of my passions which stem from years of experience as well as childhood traditions from my home in Poland. Traditional paper cutting and Polish folk patterns, fabric printing and embroidery.

Cut-Print-Stitch combines those three creative skills which produce the most exquisite (and easy) results on fabric.

CUT (day 1)

We’ll be cutting patterns based off traditional Polish designs supplied by me. We will use both regular paper for traditional symmetrical paper pattern as well as special film which can be washed and reused multiple times for future fabric printing.

PRINT (day 1)

These cut out stencils will then be placed onto your linen and we will be applying fabric paint to transfer the design onto the fabric. Your designs will be placed in various positions on your fabric and you will be able to create fast and beautiful patterns in a variety of colours on your linen. The designs will then be allowed to dry and the fabric paint will be fixed with an iron.

STITCH (day 2)

Finally, the design is given its magical touch by embellishing it with a variety of embroidery stitches which I will guide you through on the second day.

You will leave with a beautiful piece of printed and stitched linen for which I will also give examples and ideas of what you can turn it into. The creative textile world will be your oyster after this two day deeply immersive workshop. Easily print large pieces of fabric to turn into skirts or dresses. Print and use simple and quick stitches on your table cloths or cushions. Create contemporary folk art wall hangings for your home that will become the talking point. You will be given resources and guidance after the course to enable you to continue your new skills at home.

This course includes all your materials, you will receive and keep:

  • Tea towel size piece of 100% linen which can then be turned into a wall-hanging, bag or table topper.

  • Embroidery hoop.

  • 8 skeins of embroidery thread.

  • Paint brush

  • Embroidery needle.

  • Patterns for cutting.

  • Special film for pattern cutting.

  • Various colours of fabric paint.

Students can expect to come away with:

  • Knowing a variety of embroidery stitches that are ideal for printed designs.

  • Confidently use an embroidery hoop and easily threading a needle with all 6 strands.

  • Understanding how to select colours for their embroidery projects to remove overwhelm.

  • Knowing which stitches to put onto which pattern detail.

  • Knowing how to cut out patterns suitable for fabric printing.

  • Being able to confidently stencil various designs onto fabric.

  • A tonne of inspiration !

This course is suitable for anyone who is inspired to embellish fabric with prints and stitches and who would like to continue creating printed and embroidered pieces at home on a variety of fabrics such as clothes, table linens or soft home furnishings.

Students need to bring:

  • An apron or just wear clothes that you don’t mind if they get a little paint on them. This workshop is not particularly messy but there is a chance that you’ll get fabric paint on you which won’t wash off!

Lunches and morning/afternoon tea are provided on both days in our fabulous new, warm studio here in Robertson.
