All the Little Squares with Pauline Franklyn 4th August 10am til 5pm

Join me on Sunday for a wonderful day of creating.

We will begin with a morning of stitch, working on your Blooming Grid with beautiful hand dyed wool yarns. We will then enjoy a delicious lunch prepared by Zoe.

Spend the afternoon creating your own personalised Fabric Gems Necklace from lovely hand woven cottons.

Blooming Grid

Sometimes it’s hard to know where to begin with stitching. This little grid is a wonderful way to have a play with different stitches, textures and colour.

Come along, sit down, take in the surroundings and enjoy learning some new stitches, including  French knots, chain stitch, long and short stitch and Turkey work. If you are an experienced stitcher, I have some other stitches you can try too.

Hand dyed yarns are so beautiful to stitch with, they are very forgiving and also provide inspiration for further colour choices in your piece. Every stitch can be a surprise as colours appear and your squares take shape. It feels a little like magic!

Many of the more experienced stitchers who have come to my workshop can’t believe how uninhibited it is to stitch with these beautiful yarns and although they know the actual stitches, combining them in different ways is very fulfilling and they often come up with the most amazing combinations.

Enjoy the pleasure and freedom of stitching while working with quality materials and the deep experience of colour and ease of wool yarn.

This workshop will get you started on a very fun, creative and achievable slow stitch project for all levels.I will provide an assortment of beautiful hand dyed yarn at the workshop and you can take home your work in its hoop some more yarn to continue on your own.

  • 20cm x 20cm heavy weight linen square

  • 16cm bamboo hoop

  • Chenille Needle

  • Hand dyed wool yarn to use at the workshop and take home to finish your artwork.

Fabric Gems Necklace

We all have little bits of fabric that we love and wonder what to do with them. They can be sentimental, or you love the colour or it’s a favourite garment that you don’t wear anymore.
Learn how to make little fabric gems, hand stitched and embroidered with crochet chain and construct into a necklace you will love.

I will provide inspiration, lots of fabrics, threads, beads, buttons, crochet hooks and tips so you can make a beautiful necklace. If you would like to bring along some of your own  fabric that is wonderful too but certainly not essential.

  • an assortment of fabrics to use at the workshop

  • needle and threads

  • beads and buttons
